New service center designed to help South American mining customers achieve their business and operational objectives
ANTOFAGASTA, Chile (June 17, 2013) – Emerson is bolstering its service and support to the South American mining community with the establishment of a new Mining Center of Excellence in Santiago, Chile. Scheduled to open in the second half of this year, the center will feature an extended portfolio of services and add expert technical staff for greater local project support.
“Emerson’s new Mining Center of Excellence will supply added value to our customers throughout Chile and Peru,” said Leo Rodriguez, president of Emerson Latin America. “We are especially excited to grow our organization with several new process and reliability experts. They will be vital in supporting our customers to help them achieve their business and operational objectives.”
Once the facility begins operations, customers will realize improvements in sales, logistics and supply-chain interactions. The new mining center will supply extended training options for customers, including classroom, onsite, and web-based courses. With new strategic stock and laboratory services, customers can minimize the effects of process instrumentation disruptions with timely parts replacement and local calibration.
“Emerson is working with a large number of mining companies in Chile and Peru today. For example, we’ve recently helped several large companies implement wireless solutions for efficiency improvements in their hydrometallurgical processes,” said Alan Novak, metals and mining industry director for Emerson Process Management, a business of Emerson.
“We’re seeing continued demand for these types of systems, in addition to growing demand for our condition monitoring solutions, which help to identify equipment problems before they impact productivity,” Novak said. “The new Santiago mining center and support staff are pivotal in our ability to help our South American customers execute these types of projects.”
